Participants completed an online survey that consisted of fixed-responses and free-text components to assess their knowledge, attitudes and current practices relating to dementia risk factors and risk reduction techniques. The results showed that Australian primary healthcare providers have good knowledge about the modifiable risk factors for dementia; however, face several barriers to working with patients to reduce dementia risk. Commonly reported barriers included low patient motivation and healthcare system level limitations. The most commonly reported recommendations to helping primary healthcare providers to work with patients to reduce dementia risk included increasing resources and improving dementia awareness and messaging. While the results need to be interpreted in the context of the limitations of this study, we conclude that collaborative efforts between researchers, clinicians, policy makers and the media are needed to support the uptake of risk reduction activities in primary care settings.]]> Tue 15 Nov 2022 08:50:49 AEDT ]]> Australian general practitioners’ perspective on the role of the workplace Return-to-Work Coordinator https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:33373 Tue 03 Sep 2019 17:54:45 AEST ]]> Care for older people in general practice https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:18414 Thu 25 Jun 2015 11:14:21 AEST ]]> Person-centred comprehensive geriatric assessment https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:18415 Thu 25 Jun 2015 11:14:21 AEST ]]> The effectiveness of nutrition counselling by Australian General Practitioners https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:405 Thu 25 Jul 2013 09:09:51 AEST ]]> Towards Zero Suicide for older adults: implications of healthcare service use for implementation https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:46192 Thu 23 Mar 2023 09:47:42 AEDT ]]> Potentially Inappropriate Prescribing in Australian Nursing Home Residents with Advanced Dementia: A Substudy of the IDEAL Study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:43376 5 years.
