- Description
- This contribution takes a road less travelled in regard to our thinking about the ethical standards expected of psychologists and about the domain that is ethics writ large. Perhaps it would beimore accurate to say roads less travelled in view of comments from colleagues that the material straddles many different issues. So be it and, that acknowledged, it is an intentionally provocative discussion, that provocation having two levels. One is the simple irritation of our reflection on the ethical dimension of psychological practice by way of moving that discussion beyond the mundane level. The other concerns a deeper aspect that goes to the impossible task that the work of the psychologist might be, and a practical corollary of this being a challenge to the view that a psychologist can simply, or too easily, or ever, opt in and out of being a psychologist.
