- The article discusses the meaning of the word solastalgia. It is noted that this term is used to describe the sickness or pain caused by the loss of, or inability to obtain solace from the current state of one's home environment. This emotion exists when there is recognition that the place in which one resides is in danger of assault. This can be compared to the temporal and spatial dislocation experienced as nostalgia. Moreover, solastalgia is the lived experienced of the loss of value of the present and is shown in a feeling of dislocation.
