- The present chapter expands the set of cases analysed using the standard method for determining the characteristic visual complexity of domestic architecture (Ostwald, Vaughan and Tucker 2008). Five houses designed by Eileen Gray, a contemporary of Le Corbusier who was also a Modernist architect, along with five houses designed by Kazuyo Sejima, a Japanese Minimalist architect, whose designs have been constructed in the last decade, are the focus of the present chapter. The interest in these houses is precisely that, if the method is valid, then the results should cluster to reflect the architects' style. According to the method, there should be clear similarities between the results for Gray and for Le Corbusier. Both designed their houses at similar times, in relatively similar geographic regions and using similar palettes of materials and forms. Despite this, Le Corbusier and Gray also had subtle differences in the way in which they distribute detail and define form in a three-dimensional volume.
