- Description
- This chapter outlines the research methodology employed in the overall research project. The purpose of the chapter is two-fold. First, it is important to provide the methodological approach adopted in any research as this provides detail on how the data were collected and analysed, which has obvious ramifications for the reliability and validity of the research. The second purpose of the chapter is to detail the methodological contribution that this research project has made, namely carrying out the first representative survey of MNCs operating in Ireland. In so doing, this chapter outlines the research approach adopted, namely a quantitative approach through a survey. We detail the research instrument and how it was developed and tested. We subsequently cover a critical aspect of any research, defining the population. We also provide details on how our sample was chosen, followed by an insight into how the questionnaire was administered in the field, including negotiating access and response rates. Finally we provide details on the data analysis.
