- Description
- Feng Shui is a body of ancient Chinese knowledge that aims at creating a harmony between environment, buildings and people. With a desire to improve the relationship between human and the environment, there is an increasing interest for architects, building professionals and other construction practitioners to apply the concepts of Feng Shui in building design. While Feng Shui has been practiced in China for more than three thousand years, little has been done to capture the Feng Shui knowledge in a systematic manner. Not just a lot of valuable knowledge and experience of Feng Shui is lost, but the lack of a structured Feng Shui framework could also give rise to superstition and mistakes. Knowledge-based expert systems approach is one of the artificial intelligent techniques possessing a high potential to deal with intuitive expertise which is appropriate to structure and represent the Feng Shui knowledge. This paper explores the design process of a prototype model of Feng Shui expert systems for design evaluation.
