- Description
- Steam boilers play a central role in modern society. Their history can be traced back thousands of years. During the industrial revolution they played a pivotal role in providing energy to machines. Of course, transportation, especially steam trains, were a very visible, and important part of those developments. Also, important aspects of classical control can be traced back to these early steam engines. For example, Watt’s Flyball Governor (used to regulate the speed of steam engines) was a pivotal development in this era.
