- This research aims to fill some of the existing literature gaps in trusting behaviour in the context of people, society, and institutions. It seeks to answer the question ‘Why are some nations more trusting than others?’ by looking at the case of the Philippines and Australia. It will also measure the trust difference between Australia and the Philippines by using two different trust measurements—the World Values Survey data trust questions and employing a modified Trust Game. It also aims to reconcile other trust measurements concerning the various categories of trust based on existing economic literature. Furthermore, it also seeks to understand how trust in institutions shape prosocial behaviour—specifically people’s charitable giving.
