- Description
- For an organization proud of its interactive, experiential workshops exploring nonviolence and conflict transformation, the pandemic created a crisis of identity. With the introduction of social distancing and stay-at-home orders, the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) was no longer able to offer in-person workshops and started exploring the potential to offer workshops online. In this essay, we discuss how we transformed an 18-hour workshop to create the world’s first fully online AVP Basic workshop, identify lessons relevant to other online workshops, and discuss how we addressed group safety and helped create a deep sense of community.
