- In this paper, the numerical simulation is conducted using Lattice-Boltzmann methods to investigate the rough wall electro-osmotic flow at low Reynolds number (Re <7.8; based on mean centerline velocity and half height of the channel). The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of the electric filed in a channel flow with and without the roughness elements for 2k/h (ratio of roughness to channel height) =0.2. The flow inside the channel is persuaded by the external static electric field as an active force. It has been found that electroosmotic velocity (EOV) affected by the electric field and roughness elements while the electric force helped to reduce the viscosity effect of the flow surprisingly when 2 k/h =0.2. It is evident that the electroosmotic rough wall channel flow is receptive to perturbation. Such unstable motion could be generated at laminar micro-channel by the combination of active and passive technique in the contest of mixing at micro scale. It is also noted that the rough wall is sensitive to instability with the presence of electric potential at 2 k/h = 0.1 and 3 ≤ p/k ≤ 6.
