- Description
- The term ‘virtual studio’ encompasses a range of online solutions for recording and producing music in the cloud, commonly in the context of remote music collaboration. The area of music production in virtual settings has undergone a phase of unprecedented growth in recent years. Capitalizing on previous developments in the field of networked music collaboration, contemporary ‘remote music collaboration software’ (RMCS) enables interaction between global communities of musicians. The development of Web 2.0 combined with the emergence of innovative software platforms has opened new avenues for virtual collaboration as well as crowdsourcing (Koszolko 2015) of musical input and collective work in the cloud.
