- Description
- In this paper, we explore the validity of Howe's recent "rationalisation" of Fick's First Law for interstitial chemical diffusion in interstitial solid solutions. We employ Monte Carlo computer simulation and the lattice gas model with nearest neighbour interactions as the vehicle for the analysis. We show that although Howe's suggestion is far from exact in general, it might be useful as a fair description of the composition dependence of the chemical diffusion coefficient of the interstitials without the inclusion of the thermodynamic factor.
