- Description
- Situated in a graduate course on language assessment for domestic and international Masters students of English as an International Language (EIL) teacher education at the University of Newcastle, Australia, this chapter presents a successful example of applying new ideas of language assessment in Global Englishes. As the first component, an assessment task is prepared for exposure. Students are encouraged to reflect their personal experience on the previous English language proficiency tests. Most trainees are from the Asian countries where English is used as Lingua Franca. They have taken the standard English proficiency tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The flection report will reveal the problems of these tests.
