- Code of ethics plays an essential role in psychological research and practice. With the ultimate goal of ensuring the sustainable development of the profession in relation to the interests of the society, codes of ethics have had rapid development over the past seventy years and recently become the first decision-making rule of every professional activities of psychologists. By reviewing relevant literature, this paper aims to present important milestones in the development history of codes of ethics in the field of psychology as well as lessons from other countries in shaping content and formation of a code of ethics. Possibility and methods for developing a code of ethics for psychologists in Vietnam are discussed.
