- Description
- Australia has a large operational heavy railway network which is approximately 33,355 route kilometres. This network accounted for approximately 55 percent of all freight transport activity in Australia in the financial year 2013-14, almost 367 billion tonne-kilometres which was up 50 percent from 2011-12 (BITRE (2016)).
