- Description
- Recent studies have demonstrated the need for the angular acceptance of a cylindrical mirror analyser (CMA) to be determined quantitatively. This acceptance probability function, with respect to the electron ejection angle, has not been reported previously. In this paper the angular acceptance function of a PHI-550 double-pass CMA has been determined quantitatively. A knowledge of this function makes it possible to extract some limited depth-sensitive information from a standard CMA instrument without using a rotating aperture.
