- Description
- Inter-cultural education involves “learning through and about the differences that exist within societies and between different societies” (ICIS 2012). According to the UNESCO (2006) guidelines on inter-cultural education, such an education needs to accommodate both universalism and cultural pluralism. It involves respecting the cultural identities of all learners and providing them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to achieve full participation in society, while fostering respect, understanding and solidarity among individuals, ethnic, social, cultural and religious groups and nations.
