- Description
- An experimental and theoretical investigation of the interfacial heat transfer mechanisms associated with the direct contacting of copper substrates by liquid stainless steel is presented. The aim of the experimental study was to examine the effects of melt/substrate interfacial oxide, melt superheat, immersion velocity, substrate surface texture and gas atmosphere on the contacting conditions during the initial 50 milliseconds of the melt/substrate contact. The theoretical objective of the study was to confirm the heat transfer mechanisms and to develop a mathematical description of the interfacial heat flux distribution as governed by the melt/substrate contacting conditions.
