- Description
- This work presents a reconfigured version of a recently proposed method for direct torque and flux control (DTFC) of induction motors (IM) based on model predictive control (MPC). The reconfiguration process begins when a fault is detected in the voltage source inverter (VSI) that feeds the motor. The MPC strategy employed, called MPC-SVM, employs an appropriate parameterization of the voltage vector sequence over the MPC horizon, which results in an implementation strategy resembling that of the space vector modulation (SVM) technique. This property achieves a fixed switching frequency for the inverter, which is well-known to improve its performance. The reconfiguration process after inverter faults consists of reparameterizing the voltage sequences using the restricted available set of voltage vectors, while maintaining the desired SVM property. Simulation results under both healthy and faulty situations show that the proposed strategy considerably outperforms the standard MPC strategy at a very moderate computational cost increment.
