- Description
- This paper presents an investigation of wall load profiles in troughed belt conveying systems from active and passive stress states induced in bulk solid materials due to the opening and closing of the conveyor belt. Measurements were conducted on an experimental belt conveyor simulation test rig incorporating a TekScan pressure pad measuring system. An investigation was performed using DEM simulations and the comparison of experimental and simulated active and passive stresses to the active and passive slip surfaces is examined and compared to existing theory.
