- Description
- This paper seeks to examine the effectiveness of scaffolding tools in supporting student learning in a systems development course in an online collaborative learning environment. The aim is to achieve high student success rates in completing their systems development tasks. Scaffolding tools such as lecturer support, peer support, blogging and discussion forums were introduced to assist each project team with their assigned tasks to be completed within 13 weeks. Detailed evaluation was conducted on student's use of the new scaffolding tools and the impact these tools had on their overall performance and learning outcome. The results showed active student participation and positive learning outcomes.
