- Description
- In any discussion on applications of electrochemical technology, it is important to first review the fundamentals of electrochemistry so that what follows can be viewed in an appropriate light. In this document where the focus is on supercapacitor technology, in particular the materials and electrochemical mechanisms they undergo, a fundamental understanding of the relevant electrochemical principles is essential. Therefore, what follows is a discussion on three very relevant aspects of electrochemistry; namely, equilibrium electrochemistry, ionics, and dynamic electrochemistry.
- Subject
- equilibrium electrochemistry; Gibbs energy minimum; standard cell potential; cavity formation; ionic mobility; transfer coefficient
