- Description
- This chapter explores for sketchbooks can aid development of a personalized approach to drawing and to visual thinking. In particular, it considers how original sketches and ideas, which are regarded in this case as the 'retro' (the first initial pages). are developed to provide the final image, the 'verso' (end page). So others can access it, the final image is placed in a public space that, in the examples used in this chapter, happens to be an international newspaper. While the 'retro' and 'verso' are inherently linked (as opposite sides of the same plane), in most cases the 'retro' (sketched image), having served its purpose, is discarded or left unseen by the public, often remaining hidden in the folds of a sketchbook.
