Description: Symptoms and signs of vascular disorders are a reflection of multiple vascular occlusive processes affecting target organs. Some of these may be readily apparent as gangrene of a toe along with the absence of a popliteal or a femoral pulse. On the other hand, renal artery stenosis or mesenteric occlusive lesions may remain "silent" or express themselves as hypertension or postprandial pain. A vascular examination is not comp ete unless co-morbidities are identified and assessed. The patient's cardiac, pulmonary and renal reserve and his quality of life prior to the vascular event have an important bearing on therapy. The risk-benefit ratio of vascular intervention is important in the planning, timing and execution of vascular intervention.
