- London Memories explores the field of landscape and memory through an online platform of community-generated narratives facilitating communication between social and multicultural groupings around London. The nature of human memory was the subject of ongoing consideration throughout, sponsoring questions about how site as verbalized and visually recorded memories are integrated and represented. This research produced innovative cultural and social exchange, behaviours and interactions, and explored the imaginative context of community memories and the associations that come from their telling. The spoken word combined with images of site, located the histories of individuals and communities and pointed to the interrelationships between a sites’ significance and its place in the collective memory. This contribution ran parallel to the production of memorial content based on a set of investigations about remembering, memories, and the operative processes of audio-visual representation. This interactive online platform has had a social, cultural and educational impact on the institutions involved in the project, extending the contexts of digital arts research where practice-led methodologies interact in collaboration with Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME), producing outputs exhibited through an online platform. Postings associated with London sites were developed using an innovative documentary format using commercial platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, SoundCloud and the like. London Memories was a knowledge exchange research project realised as a collaboration between Stromatolite (SME) and Kingston University, funded by CreativeWorks London (AHRC) awarded through a competitive peer review application process.
