- In Parliament's Question Time on 21 March 2011, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, a self described atheist, was asked by an Opposition member about her comments to a television interviewer the previous day, 'when she said it was impossible to understand Western literature without understanding the Bible. Could the Prime Minister therefore indicate', the questioner wanted to know, 'where in the government's draft national curriculum the Bible is mentioned?'
