Our study is different from previous work along this line of research in that we consider the entire runtime behavior of the algorithms rather than just their end results. This leads to one of the most comprehensive comparisons of these algorithms using the TSP instances. We then introduce an improved S&C-ECM (named FSM**) that can outperform LK, TS, and MNS. In order to further boost the performance, we develop new hybrid versions of our ECM implementations by combining them with Evolutionary Algorithms and Population-based Ant Colony Optimization. We compare them to similar hybrids of LK, TS, and MNS. Our results show that hybrid algorithms of S&C-ECM, LK, TS and MNS are all very efficient for solving the TSP. We also find that the full runtime behavior comparison provides deeper and clearer insights, while focusing on end results only could have led to a misleading conclusion.]]> Tue 06 Jun 2017 12:36:12 AEST ]]> Internal competition in engineering education-a case study of project design competition in UNITEN https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:43581 Tue 01 Nov 2022 11:40:33 AEDT ]]> A fresh shine on cystic fibrosis inhalation therapy: antimicrobial synergy of polymyxin B in combination with silver nanoparticles https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:34845 Thu 28 Oct 2021 12:35:34 AEDT ]]> Magnetohydrodynamic Boundary Layer Flow Over an Exponentially Stretching Sheet Past a Porous Medium with Uniform Heat Source https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:43250 Thu 15 Sep 2022 10:24:32 AEST ]]> Non-dependence of polymer to PCBM weight ratio on the performance of bulk heterojunction solar cells with benzodithiophene donor polymer https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:19343 n = 24130 g/mol. The polymer was tested in bulk heterojunction solar cells with [6,6]-phenyl-C₆₁-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) acceptor at various weight ratios. This study showed that the power conversion efficiencies (PCE) remained independent of the weight ratio of polymer/PCBM ranging from 1:1 to 1:12. This independence was interpreted as an effect of the presence of low molecular weight oligomers and terthiophene monomer which acted as plasticizers in the solar cell devices. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and tapping mode atomic force microscopy (TMAFM) analysis were employed to investigate the morphology of the active layer blends.]]> Thu 06 Aug 2015 11:50:18 AEST ]]> Direct electron transfer of glucose oxidase immobilized on a mesoporous silica KIT-6 matrix to screen-printed electrodes https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:8063 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:34:23 AEDT ]]> An amperometric biosensor based on glucose oxidase immobilized in a sol-gel polyvinyl alcohol/silica hybrid composite film on a prussian blue modified electrode https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:11386 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:10:01 AEDT ]]> Structural stability and energy of a Pd2Ni nanofilm: ab initio calculations https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:16939 2Ni surface–sandwich ordering at the nanoscale. These findings open up a range of opportunities for the synthesis of new kinds of Pd-Ni nanostructures such as a five-layer Pd2Ni nanofilm from which a Pd2Ni nanotube might be fabricated. In this paper, we report on an ab initio spatial optimization and structural energy calculation of a five-layer Pd2Ni nanofilm, which are performed using plane-wave pseudopotential total energy calculations in the generalized gradient approximation of density functional theory. The results of the ab-initio calculations show that the five-layer Pd2Ni nanofilm is structurally stable and its energy is ~0.4 eV higher than the energy of a bulk crystal alloy having the same composition.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:51:50 AEDT ]]> Young's modulus variation of carbon nanotubes due to defects associated with atomic reconstruction of random vacancies https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:26798 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:36:26 AEDT ]]> Lung segmentation based on customized active shape model from digital radiography chest images https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:24145 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:16:33 AEDT ]]> Parametric study on sag-cable connected to viscous damper with coupling interaction considered https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:22327 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:15:38 AEDT ]]> Influence of twisting and distortion on the mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:22799 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:12:17 AEDT ]]> Investigation of permeability of structural lightweight aggregate concrete https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:22372 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:09:28 AEDT ]]> Fault tolerant control for lure systems via LPV embedding https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:29498 Mon 28 Aug 2017 13:08:42 AEST ]]> Impacts of magnetic field and radiation absorption on mixed convective Jeffrey nano fluid flow over a vertical stretching sheet with stability and convergence analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:32786 r = 0.246 and Lewis number, Le = 0.16.
