- Description
- In this work, a non-linear BE formulation with damage model is extended for numerical simulation of structural masonry walls. The original formulation was presented by Botta, to analyse reinforced concrete in 2D stress analysis. The formulation is reoriented to analyse structural masonry in which the component materials, clay bricks and mortar, are considered as damaged materials. The implicit formulation proposal is written in terms of domain strain variables and is based on the consistent tangent operator. A simple damage model is used to represent the material behaviour and the domain discretization is also proposed and discussed. Some examples are shown to validate the formulation.
