A number of specific pay and performance practices in foreign and Irish MNCs are examined here. First, the overall strategy on pay levels with regard to whether companies' aim to pay employees above, below, or at the market average for their sector are measured. Second, the use of various systems of reward such as profit-related pay and share ownership are reported. Third, methods of performance appraisal are given: whether companies use formal systems for different groups of staff, the way that appraisal is implemented, the uses to which it is put, and so on.
