This chapter examines how normative technologies of power are emerging in social work that depends on the hardening of risk regulation rationality and strategies of social insurance against dangerous, vulnerable and marginal populations. Taken together, it will be shown how these radical changes amount to a reconfiguring of social work through forms of governmentality that is referred to as actuarialism.
