Road to Ruin and Tale of Mystery are the two best known plays by Thomas Holcroft, the latter credited with introducing the term `melodrama' to the English stage in 1802. Ella Rosenberg is by the prolific James Kenney (1807) who provided Liston with one of his most memorable roles, Lubin Log in Love, Law and Physics (1812).
